Sacramento Latinas to be recognized by LATINA Style, Inc.


Sacramento school board trustee Diana Rodriguez and tax consultant Brenda Duran to receive awards.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- LATINA Style, Inc., the premier company addressing the needs of professional Latinas in the United States, presents the 17th Annual of the LATINA Style Business Series Tour in Sacramento, CA, on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, at the Doubletree by Hilton Sacramento located at 2001 Point West Way Sacramento, CA 95815. The one-day program for Latina entrepreneurs in the nation marks its 119th stop - where participants have the opportunity to network, learn about business ownership, and receive amazing development empowerment seminars designed to benefit Latina professionals and entrepreneurs.
Brenda Duran
LATINA Style will honor Brenda Duran with the "Entrepreneur of the Year" award for Sacramento. Ms. Duran is the president of BD Tax & Finance Group, Inc. She founded her company as a sole proprietor DBA Tax Support Services back in 2010.  Ms. Duran graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2005. In addition, after a year of law school under her education, she completed the rigorous and comprehensive IRS Enrolled Agent exams. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS federal practice, individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to the highest ethical standards. The LATINA Style Entrepreneur of the Year Award honors leading entrepreneurs of all fields. Award finalists are nominated by community partners and are selected based on their vision, leadership, financial success, community service, and visibility as a true role model for young women. "It is with great pleasure to nominate Ms. Brenda Duran in recognition of her outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in helping and mentoring small business entrepreneurs in our community," states Oscar Garcia, Counselor, SCORE Sacramento chapter. 
Diana Rodriguez
In addition, LATINA Style is delighted to recognize the Honorable Diana Rodriguez with the "Advocate of the Year" award . Nominated by national partner, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), Honorable Rodriguez has been chosen based on her lifetime achievements and her distinguishability as a role model. This coveted award is presented to individuals who are champions of leadership and community service. Hon. Rodriguez represents families in the Sacramento region as an elected trustee of the Sacramento City Unified School District. First elected in 2008, and then re-elected to a second term in 2012, she has been a leading voice against harmful school closures, proper spending of the district's approximately $480 million in revenues, and increased transparency. Hon. Rodriguez has been an advocate for working families and children and has supported policies to improve schools. 
Alice Perez
Chairing the Business Series in Sacramento is President  & CEO of California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Alice Perez. Ms. Perez founded Alice Perez Consulting in 2011, a firm that focuses on Business and Community Engagement and Strategies. She has served clients dedicated on increasing small business exporting in California and also engaging elected officials in Education Reform strategies throughout the United States. Ms. Perez is a graduate of California State University Sacramento where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Insurance.  She resides in the greater Sacramento area and is the mother of five.
